Who we are
chatwithdev is built by Edon Derguti. It adds a chat bubble to a website, answered from Telegram or a dashboard. This page covers conversations handled by the widget and analytics on our own website. Contact privacy@chatwithdev.com with questions.
Two kinds of people
Site owners and their teams sign up and use the dashboard. Visitors are the people who write into a chat bubble on a site that uses chatwithdev. Site owners are responsible for what they ask visitors and for telling their visitors that the chat is provided by us; we process visitor data on their behalf.
What we store about site owners
- Your email address and a hashed password, or the account you sign in with.
- Your project settings, saved replies, office hours, docs you add for the assistant.
- Your Telegram bot token and the ids of the chats it delivers to, so messages reach your phone.
- Billing details live with Stripe; we keep a customer id and the plan you are on.
What we store about visitors
- The messages they write and the replies they get, with times.
- A random visitor id kept in their browser so their chat history comes back on the same device.
- The page they wrote from, the referring site, browser type, language, time zone and screen size, so the team can help faster.
- A name and email only if they typed one, or if the site owner's page passed one in.
- Files and screenshots they send, kept with the conversation.
- Their rating of the chat, if they left one.
We do not sell visitor conversations or use visitor messages to train our own models.
Where messages travel
Messages are stored with Convex (our database, hosted in the United States) and delivered to the site owner's Telegram through Telegram's Bot API. Emails are sent through Amazon SES. When a site owner turns on the assistant or uses drafting tools, the relevant conversation and the owner's own docs are sent to Anthropic's API to produce a reply; Anthropic does not train on that data.
How long
Conversations stay until the site owner deletes them, or until their chosen retention period removes closed chats. Unattached uploads are cleaned up periodically once they are more than an hour old. Chats with us through this website are scheduled for removal after seven days of inactivity. Site owners can export conversation data as JSON or CSV. Copies delivered to Telegram or email are subject to those services and the recipient's settings.
Your rights
If you wrote into a chat on someone's site, ask that site to delete your conversation; they can do it in one click from the visitor panel. If they do not respond, write to privacy@chatwithdev.com with the site and the email or name you used so we can help locate the conversation. Site owners can delete visitor conversations from the dashboard and request account deletion by writing to us.
Analytics and advertising on the chatwithdev website
When you visit our website, we record page views to understand how people find and use the product. These records include your IP address, page path, referring page, browser information, time, and a random visitor identifier. We also record click positions, screen size, and labels of clicked elements to understand which parts of the site people use. Our click tracker does not read values typed into form fields and skips dashboard, admin, and setup pages.
We store these page-view and click records in Convex and schedule records older than 90 days for deletion. We send IP addresses to ipapi.co to look up approximate locations. Those location results are cached separately and currently have no automatic expiry.
We also use Google Analytics on our website to measure visits and interactions. It can set analytics cookies and send usage information to Google. Its handling of that information is described in Google's privacy policy.
We use the LinkedIn Insight Tag on our website to measure advertising performance and support audience insights and retargeting. It can set cookies and send page URLs, referring pages, IP addresses, browser and device information, timestamps, and website interaction data to LinkedIn. See LinkedIn's privacy policy.
Installing our widget on your website does not install our Google Analytics tag, LinkedIn Insight Tag, or website click tracker there.
Cookies and browser storage
The chat widget uses local browser storage for a visitor identifier and chat preferences on the site where it is embedded. Our own website also uses sign-in cookies and a first-party analytics cookie called cr_vid, which can last for one year. Google Analytics and the LinkedIn Insight Tag also use cookies. Clearing cookies or browser storage removes the identifiers saved on your device; it does not by itself delete records already stored by the service.
Changes
When this page changes in a way that matters, signed-in site owners see a note in the dashboard.
